I offered to bring the dessert to kick off Season 16. It was a, “fly by the seat of my pants” decision so I went to the cupboard to see what I had on hand. I found one lone boxed cake mix. For the frosting I was hoping to try the new Cool Whip Frosting I keep seeing advertised. Our local grocery store did not have it in yet so I went with the ol’ standby Cream Cheese Frosting. Again, no time to make it from scratch so there you go. After the cake had cooled and the frosting was on, I felt it still needed a little somethin’ somethin’
to jazz it up. I was so happy to find that I had Sparkling Sugar Sprinkles. That’s exactly what a cake for Dancing With The Stars night needed…
A little BLING!
The Pre-Show Rehearsal (Ingredients):
Tips: Let cake cool completely. Use frosting at room temperature. The cake was very moist and wanted to stick. Sometimes it helps to keep cleaning the spreading knife with warm water every once in a while. This helps prevent the frosting from gumming up. I put a thin layer of frosting on the cake and put it in the refrigerator for 10 minutes or so, then finish frosting the cake after it has a chance to firm up.
